During the first Phase of the KCN that lasted between September 2008 and November the same year, 100 children between the age of 8 years and 15 years were brought together mobilized in groups of ten in the respective ten villages of Korogocho slums.

The sole aim of this phase was to organize the children so as to:

• Identify issues affecting them in their villages
• Prioritize these issues
• Identify stakeholders around those issues
• Come up with action plan to address these issues
• Mobilize the stake holders in implementing the action plan

Phase Two of the KCN focused on information sharing as a tool for child security in Korogocho and also the development of children as facilitators at group meetings. Throughout the process the children were encouraged to develop ideas and creative means to communicate and increase information exchange between children and the general community. The following are the key means of communication that the children have established and successfully continue to apply for purposes of exchanging information, feed backing the community as well as enhancing communication between them and the community for the best interest of the children.
